The RLT VET™ System

The most recent advance in veterinary laser technology has arrived at Miller & Associates. Called the RLT VET™ system, it is used for non-invasive repair of ligament and tendon injuries and reduction of scar tissue within and around soft tissues.

The RLT VET™ laser was developed in Italy approximately 10 years ago. It has been used on clinical cases in Europe for several years, and has been in clinical trials here in the U.S. for the past 2 years. Dr. Norm Rantanen, who is board certified by the College of Veterinary Radiologists and is a pioneer in the field of veterinary ultrasound, has been supervising the clinical trials here in the U.S. “The Regenerative Laser Therapy is one of the most exciting modalities I have seen in 40 years. The research and development that’s put into is matched by no other company that I have witnessed in my career, and it’s named properly because it does regenerate the tissues. It allows horses to get back on track.”

The RLT VET™ system uses a pulsed, high-intensity laser that safely delivers energy to soft tissues, such as tendons and ligaments, as well as to structures within the hoof capsule. Because of its 5cm depth of penetration, structures that were previously inaccessible are now treatable with the RLT Vet. Depending on the nature of the injury, laser treatments are applied as a stand-alone therapy or in conjunction with other regenerative therapies such as intra-lesional injections of PRP (platelet rich plasma) or stem cells. Biologically, the laser increases local blood supply and enhances cellular metabolic activity, thereby enhancing the healing process.

The RLT VET™ system, is currently used for non-invasive repair of ligament and tendon lesions, reduction of scar tissue within and around tendons and to repair and improve muscle fibers and function.

There are currently fewer than a dozen RLT VET™ systems in operation in the United States, and Miller & Associates is proud to offer this revolutionary treatment option to their clients. If you would like to hear more about the system or have additional questions, please contact the office.
